Soft Pots: Altered And Textured Forms - March 9 & 10

  • Berkshire Art Center 13 Willard Hill Road Stockbridge, MA, 01262 United States (map)

Learn to grow your formal and textural catalog of ideas through the use of textured wood blocks, a heat gun, and freehand altering with instructor, Ben Eberle! By pressing patterns into freshly thrown walls, we will push the margins of what is possible with basic tools and found objects. The ideas of softness, motion, and fluidity are all mainstays for this technique. Students should be able to throw a 6-8" cylinder without much difficulty. Some beginners who have many of the basics of wheel throwing could enjoy this class as well.

CLASS MATERIALS

  • Students registering for this class must purchase the Ceramics Class Materials Fee including clay, glazing, and firing. If you have leftover clay purchased from BAC in the last year, the clay purchase requirement can be waived. Per the instructor's recommendation, students registering for this class should purchase the “95400 White Clay” option.

  • Special materials note from the instructor: Please bring found object wood blocks. They must be unsealed/unfinished. An array of sizes is good - from 2-3" to longer 12" pieces of old flooring, 2x4 chunks, old wooden handles - anything with fun texture on it and a good edge.

Registration is required! Please register below.

(*NOTE: This class is not free for BPC members, but current Berkshire Art Center members can receive a 15% discount using their membership code at checkout. Become a BAC member!)
