What to Expect
IS183 Art School is the leading provider of high quality, hands-on instruction in the visual arts year-round at sites throughout Berkshire County.
IS183 art classes and workshops are open to students of all levels. Classes are usually limited to about 12 students, allowing our faculty to provide both group instruction and individual attention.
Location & Parking
Most classes and workshops are held in our main studios at Citizens' Hall in Stockbridge, just off Route 183. There is plentiful parking in the lot in front of the building.
A ramp leads from the parking lot to IS183's main entrance. Our historic building has narrow doorways and is not equipped with an elevator. Our bathrooms, ceramics studio, and 3D studio are accessible via stairs only.
IS183 welcomes and makes every effort to accommodate learners of all styles and abilities.
Please contact us if you have questions about accessibility to our building and classes.
What to Bring
IS183 provides all necessary materials for our classes and workshops where there is a materials fee listed. Otherwise, students will receive a list of materials to purchase prior to class. Ceramics open studio material fees includes clay. We do not provide materials for painting or drawing open studios.
We encourage you to bring food and drinks, especially for longer classes and workshops. We have a water cooler, refrigerator, and microwave for your convenience.
What to Wear
You can expect to get messy when working with certain materials — clay, paint, ink, dye, and others. It's best to wear older clothes or an apron during your class.
Please refer to the Policies page.
