about usJobsSUMMER TEACHING ASSISTANT INTERNSHIPSIS183 Art School is now accepting applications for intern positions for its Summer Young Artist Program, which will run from June 25 to August 17, on weekdays from 8:30 a. m. to 4:30 p.m. Two to eight week internships are available for students ages 15 and above. Qualifications Applicants should be pursuing art and/or education as a major or supplementary course of study and be able to demonstrate experience working with children. Interns will be expected to supervise students in specific age groups ranging from 3-14 years and interact with parents, staff, faculty, and fellow interns, so strong interpersonal skills are a must. Preference is given to college students and those considering an art education career. There are two intern levels: Junior Intern program An un-paid internship for students ages 15-17 who have attended camp and come with high recommendation from IS183 faculty. Two to eight week internships are available with reduced hours. Interns have the opportunity to audit one evening or weekend adult class. Teaching Assistant Intern program For students ages 17 and above who are considering an art education career, have previous work experience, and previous experience working with children. Two to eight week internships, hours 8:30-4:30 are available. Interns will receive a $100 weekly stipend and have the opportunity to audit one evening or weekend adult class. College graduates (as of summer 2012) and practicing artists who are interested in art education, but have no prior training, should inquire about IS183’s Teaching Institute. How to Apply To apply, candidates should send a brief statement summarizing their interest in being a part of IS183's Young Artist Program, along with a resume (outlining academic focus, employment, and volunteer activities), and two references to Lucie Castaldo, YA Program Coordinator, at lucie@is183.org or by mail to IS183 Art School, PO Box 1400, Stockbridge, MA, 01262.
