Plein-Air Watercolor

Capturing light and surroundings in changing conditions is always a challenge. This week we will focus on planning your composition with quick sketching, simplifying the elements included, and using color and value creatively. We will be working almost exclusively on sites in the area, alternating between traditional landscapes and more urban settings. Subject matter will range from detailed views of flora to wider street views. Each student will receive copious feedback, from using the best portable set-up to which brushstroke might give a desired effect. All levels are welcome, from beginners to experienced painters. Note: as this class will be meeting outdoors, it is best suited to those students ready to deal with uneven terrain, surprising weather, and other variables!
